What's in your lipstick? FDA finds lead levels more dangerous than previously reported

 A new study by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reveals that lead levels in lipstick are much higher than previously reported. In all 20 lipsticks it tested, levels ranging
from 0.09 parts per million (ppm) to 3.06 ppm were found. Health experts say lead in lipstick in any amount is a health concern.

Air-quality grades in Minnesota are tumbling

 Minnesota has long scored high in air-quality ratings. But now, under tougher standards by the EPA, Minnesota counties are starting to see their grades drop, according to a report from the American Lung Association. And much of it can be attributed to particulate and ozone pollution caused by excessive vehicle exhaust.

Did you know? According to a 2006 report by the United Nations, the world's livestock generate more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry. In fact, it's estimated that the livestock industry is responsible for 13.5 to 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. And there's another meaty issue tied to our love of beef: Manure from industrial farms is
polluting water bodies, increasing Earth-heating nitrous oxide
emissions, and having a detrimental effect on wildlife, human health,
and the planet.
